MP3s

This page gives you a little aural peek at the different types of songs and tunes I do, from archaic solo pieces to the manical, and all that falls in between.

  • HARD IS THE FORTUNE (2.1mg)
Solo fiddle (tuned DDAD) & vocal. The tune, and at least the first verse, goes back to around 1734. It has shown up, along with its variants, as The Ladie's Case, The Wagoner's Lad, and others.

  • POSSUM UP A GUMSTUMP (2.6mg)
Southern Old Time tune with fiddle, banjo, guitar, mandolin, and bass. Related to tune families such as Whiskey Your the Devil, and Dubuque, and known at least back to 1830.

  • GROUNDHOG DAY (2.4mg)
An original in the tradition of Southern Old Time. Fiddle (DDAD) and guitar, played at what Dwight Diller calls 'festival speed'. Sorry, Dwight.

  • WAYNE PERRY WALTZ (3.6mg)
A Cajun waltz in 5/4. Go figure. A couple guitars, fiddle, bass, snare and bass drum, and of course, a T'fer. What a cool tune. Must have drove the dancers crazy seventy years ago when it was writtem.

And of course, your favorite Irish band, Paddy and the Paleboys has a page of MP3s to listen to as well. I get to play lots of different instruments with these guys, and get to sneak in a few of my tunes. Cool.
